This is a total POS doens't work at all don't waste ur time or money.
VGA splits that information up into different channels. You cannot simply adapt the wire to go from composite or s-video to vga, or vice-versa. Transcoders generally cost >$100. You need to transcode the video in order for the conversion to work. The video is encoded differently. In composite, all of the brightness and color information is on a single wire.
Returned it. Does not work. This item does not work. I tried it on all devices in my house including my honda pilot rear ent system.
Well I should have took these reviews a little more seriously because like the people before this thing did not work right. Messed around for a bit but nothing going.
However on the other computer the s video out works perfectly. What a waste of $5.
So I have 2 computers both with VGA and one with S Video out. I tried both the s video and the video composite however I got the same results every time.
If you do have an s video out just use that. I bought this item and also a s video converter to RCA composite.
I would get a scrambled screen that was in black and white and it was also in three different parts.
I tried Fn+F8 and many many other troubleshooting steps, but had no luck.So maybe it is a great product but I would not know. In simple, not too sure about the performance of this cable but it does not work with DELL LATITUDE 620 (with only VGA out).
